Last night (29th) while driving south on I-91 I counted 23 Common
Nighthawks winging around in search of food. I spotted them between
Fairlee and White River Jct, with the majority near Pompy flats. As
soon as I got home, Matt Medler and I rushed to Sumner Falls in
Hartland and watched another 22 flying along the river corridor.
Interestingly, they were all flying north. We speculated about why
they were heading in the "wrong" direction. Perhaps someone else saw
them congregate nearby. This all happened between 6 and 7:40 pm.
