Lake Tarleton today - Two adult eagles sitting close together in a tall white pine. They watched as we canoe'd toward them and just as we got close, they both - in unison and without a squawk - swooped down just off our bow to attempt to ‘fish'. They were side-by-side. I was totally surprised that they did not fly away as we approached. One was successful with effortless capture. They both returned to perch on a nearby tree where one ate the fish and the other watched and squawked a bit. A few weeks ago I witnessed an adult eagle on this lake exhibiting a very similar behavior - swooping down VERY near the bow of a kayaker to grab a fish. Do kayaks/canoes do something to funnel fish in front that has made this eagle notice?
