How to find time for birding, with so many great species passing through
and arriving?
We tried the get-up-and-out-earlier approach today, pre-school and pre-rain.
It worked. Highlights:

Lake Pinneo in Quechee
   Horned Grebe **unusual here
   Red-neck Grebe

Dewey's Pond in Quechee
   Merlin - hunting red-wing blackbirds
   Kingbirds 3
   (Otter 1)

Wilder Dam
   Common Loon - winter plumage
   Bonaparte's Gull - winter plumage
   Green Heron *FOY for us
Ruby-crown Kinglet - great views with ruby flashes
Brown Thrasher - sitting up singing, in concert with Catbird

Ledyard
Bonaparte's Gull - winter plumage (different bird than at Wilder)
   Greater Yellowlegs 1

No Shoveler at yesterday's location.

Doug & Spencer Hardy, Norwich

Lots of nice new arrivals, and
