I've gotten some of my best yard birds while lying in bed. Some years ago,
we had a Saw-whet Owl spend some time up behind our house, and we would go
to sleep listening to its monotone whistle. On another occasion, a Barred
Owl (right outside our window) woke us up a little after 4:00 am (Okay, we
weren't quite as happy about that, the darn thing wouldn't shut up!) I think
the best one was a Loon doing a noisy fly-by.
