I saw my first Northern "Yellow-Shafted" Flicker this morning. I have never
seen this bird before in my life. I had no clue what he was but he was nice
enough to hang around for a bit so I could take pictures. I have posted them
at my blog. I also took a couple of pictures of another bird that visited the
feeder today. I am not sure what she is. I thought maybe a female red-winged
blackbird or some kind of sparrow but these speckled birds confuse me. If you
know what she is please let me know.
As I was driving in Lempster,NH yesterday, I saw my first American Kestrel. He
was very beautiful. He flew beside my card for a few seconds and then went
off towards the wetland area.
I did get an email from the audobon society about my purple finches letting me
know they are indeed purple finches. I have 2 pair coming daily to the feeders.
I hope they nest nearby. Now that I have an indooor cat, I seem to have more
birds visiting. Enjoy your Saturday..Anne
