Currently enjoying a mixed flock enlivening our front yard…robins, blue jays, doves, at least 2 female scarlet tanagers, many many many flickers and at least one juvenile sapsucker aerating our Quercus bicolor.  
Glorious!!
Ps, I know they are not thugs, except maybe the blue jays, but that’s how I think of the “big birds” when they all come through!  (:
