A very strange site greeted our family when we returned from vacation last night. A Ruffed Grouse had flown through our living room window- a screen and two panes of glass! I have very occasionally seen other birds fly into a window on occasion, but none with such force. Is this common behavior of a grouse? We had a shiny Santa decoration in that particular window- could that have stirred up such aggression? Or was something chasing him?

Also, other than a broken neck, the bird is a beautiful specimen. Is there any place that we can donate him? VINS? Dartmouth?

Thanks,
Tammy
