Just a quick update on the bird happenings here at the farm. Janet and I just caught a quick glimpse of a Brown Thrasher. We heard it first. The Mockingbird has moved in and spends its day singing from many comfortable perches. Now only the Catbirds need to return.
The Barn Swallows have returned to their nest high up in the barn. I haven’t seen any Cliffs yet.
The other day with Connie Snyder, we enjoyed an American Kestrel monitoring the “Back 40”. It perched on a fence post, occasionally flying down in the strawberry patch.
We now have 8 bluebird houses around the farm. They are posted in pairs. We think we have one pair nesting.
We have have not seen or heard any warblers yet. But we would be most appreciative if one of the experts visited and let us know what they saw and heard.
Time to seed the first corn. I guess this missive wasn’t so quick.
