This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, March 11th, 
2019.



A SNOWY OWL was seen on the coast on March 9th.



An immature GOLDEN EAGLE was photographed in Dover near the Maine state line 
on March 6th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in South Sutton on March 10th, 1 was seen at 
Pickering Ponds in Rochester on the 9th, and 1 was seen in Croydon on the 
4th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues to be seen on the Androscoggin River in

Errol, and was last reported on March 7th. A female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE 
continues to be seen off of Pulpit Rocks in Rye, and was last reported on 
March 9th



4 REDHEADS were seen at Osprey Cove on Great Bay in Greenland on March 9th.



A male GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen on the Androscoggin River in Gorham on

March 6th. This is an unusually far north occurrence in winter.



An ICELAND GULL was seen on the coast on March 9th. A GLAUCOUS GULL 
continues to be seen in Seabrook at Hampton Harbor and was last reported on 
the 9th.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, a GLAUCOUS GULL, and 4 ICELAND GULLS were seen 
at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant on March 8th. The treatment 
plant is gated and the hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you 
visit, please check in at the office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that 
plant personnel do not have to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the 
dikes and do not block the road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east 
of the plant, are not gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



A mixed flock of over 30 birds consisting mainly of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS with a 
few CEDAR WAXWINGS was seen near Church Landing in Meredith on March 9th. 2 
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen in Hanover on the 9th.



3 PINE GROSBEAKS were seen along Wolf Road in Amherst, and 2 were seen along 
Morgan Drive in Lebanon, all on March 9th



A flock of 12 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in East Kingston on March 8th, and 
a flock of 26 was seen in Ellsworth on the 10th.



There were a few COMMON REDPOLLS reported from scattered locations during 
the past week.



2 FISH CROWS were reported from Hampton on March 9th.



A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen again in East Kingston on March 8th.



11 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen in Seabrook on March 9th, and 8 were seen in 
Northfield on the 8th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Bedford, a MERLIN was seen on the coast, and 
an AMERICAN KESTREL was seen along Lee Hook Road in Lee, all on March 9th.



A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen in Orford on March 8th, and 1 was seen in 
Milford on the 5th. A NORTHERN HARRIER was seen in Seabrook on the 9th.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was photographed in Hollis on March 7th.



43 TURKEY VULTURES were seen roosting in Exeter on March 9th.



3 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were seen near Little Cherry Pond at the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on March 9th.



Small numbers of returning COMMON GRACKLES and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS were 
reported during the past week.



Lingering migrant species reported during the past week included: WINTER 
WREN, HERMIT THRUSH, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, and NORTHERN FLICKER.
