This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, January 11th, 
2016.



A NORTHERN FULMAR, 8 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, 2 DOVEKIES, 82 RAZORBILLS, and 
23 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen off the coast of Rye on January 10th.



A birder on a boat cruise off of the coast saw 25 NORTHERN FULMARS, 24 
RAZORBILLS, and 14 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES on January 7th.



A EURASIAN WIGEON was seen on Great Bay from the Discovery Center in 
Greenland on January 9th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported from the Androscoggin River in Errol, 
and 2 male BARROW’S GOLDENEYES were seen from behind 250 Commercial Street 
on the Merrimack River in Manchester, all on January 9th.



3 NORTHERN SHOVELERS and a pair of NORTHERN PINTAILS were seen at the Exeter 
Wastewater Treatment Plant on January 9th.



84 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on Beaver Lake in Derry on January 5th, but were 
absent later in the week after the lake finally froze over.



430 COMMON MERGANSERS, 20 HOODED MERGANSERS, 20 COMMON GOLDENEYES, and 3 
COMMON LOONS were seen on Squam Lake on January 7th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL and 2 NORTHERN PINTAILS were seen at Odiorne Point State 
Park in Rye on January 9th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen in Rochester on January 4th, and 1 was seen from 
Stark Landing on the Merrimack River in Manchester on November 9th.



A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was seen on Hampton Beach on January 10th.



A DICKCISSEL continues to be seen with a flock of HOUSE SPARROWS on School 
Street in Lakeport, and was last reported on January 9th, and a DICKCISSEL 
was seen with a large flock of HOUSE SPARROWS near the end of Depot Road in 
Seabrook near the parking lot for Beckman's Landing on January 9th.



A flock of 120 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was reported from Gorham on January 5th.



34 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported between Gorham and Errol on January 10th.



5 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen at Odione Point State Park in Rye on January 
7th.



8 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from Trudeau Road in Bethlehem on 
January 5th.



2 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen in Sunapee on January 8th.



2 FOX SPARROWS were reported during the past week, 1 in Nashua and 1 in 
Rochester.



A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen in Greenland on January 8th.



10 BALD EAGLES were reported from the Lakes Region on January 7th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Nashua on January 7th.



An AMERICAN KESTREL continues to be seen in Hollis, and was last reported on 
January 9th.



4 TURKEY VULTURES were seen in Newmarket on January 8th.



A female BALTIMORE ORIOLE has been seen visiting a birdfeeder at a private 
residence in Lebanon for the past 3 weeks and was last reported on January 
6th.



A BROWN THRASHER continues to be seen in Hollis, and was last reported on 
January 10th.



Additional lingering species that normally would have migrated south by now 
but were reported during the past week include: NORTHERN FLICKER, EASTERN 
PHOEBE, WINTER WREN, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, HERMIT THRUSH, PINE WARBLER, 
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, GRAY CATBIRD, SAVANNAH SPARROW, EASTERN MEADOWLARK, 
and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD.



A CAROLINA WREN was seen in Sunapee on January 7th, and 1 was reported from 
Hanover on the 9th.
