Friday afternoon (cold and rainy): a Carolina Wren singing in Mink Brook
Nature Preserve.

Saturday afternoon: several Brown Creepers in the preserve, one singing. A
female Pileated Woodpecker excavating a dead quaking aspen (a curious red
squirrel climbed the tree to inspect her work).

Today (Sunday): ran into a flock of 20+ Purple Finches mixed with several
Pine Siskins in the Stone House Farm Trails area in Lyme. The Purple
Finches were eating the seeds of white ash, hophornbeams, and mountain
maples. From the lookout I saw a pair of Common Ravens perched above Post
Pond.
