From some friends in NYS

David,
The White-crowned influx is also happening here in the southern Finger Lakes of NY. We've banded an unusually high percentage of adults. We are also seeing higher than normal numbers of both nuthatches, purple finch, and pine siskins. For the first time in years the region is reporting Evening Gosbeaks and high numbers of the above species as well - siskins and white-crowneds are noted in high numbers in all regional reports. It's theorized that a very poor cone crop in Canada and the NY mountains is causing this southward shift.
John
