This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, November 30th, 
2015.



A flock of 23 SANDHILL CRANES was seen in Haverhill, Massachusetts, just 
over the state line on November 29th. Apparently there were no reports of 
the flock in New Hampshire, although it was reported earlier from Maine, so 
it likely passed over NH.



A GREAT WHITE HERON was reported several times from Chase Brook Pond in 
Litchfield during the past week. Its identity was confirmed with 
photographs. The GREAT WHITE HERON is considered by most authorities to be a 
subspecies (Ardea herodias occidentalis) rather than a color morph of the 
GREAT BLUE HERON. It is mainly found in southern Florida.



A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen from Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on November 
20th.



A THICK-BILLED MURRE was seen along the coast from Bicentennial Park in 
Hampton on November 26th, and a THICK-BILLED MURRE and a BLACK GUILLEMOT 
were seen in Rye Harbor on the 28th. A THICK-BILLED MURRE and a RAZORBILL 
were seen from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on the 27th. A RAZORBILL was 
seen from Rye Harbor State Park on November 29th.



A REDHEAD, 3 male EURASIAN WIGEONS, over 100 AMERICAN WIGEONS, 4 NORTHERN 
SHOVELERS, a GADWALL, a NORTHERN PINTAIL, and a RUDDY DUCK were all seen on 
Great Bay during the past week



A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen on the Androscoggin River in Errol on 
November 22nd and 23rd.



A CACKLING GOOSE was seen on the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on November 
30th.



2 NORTHERN SHOVELERS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
November 27th.



20 HORNED GREBES were seen near Black Cat Island on Lake Winnipesaukee in 
Moultonborough on November 30th.



More than 160 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on Beaver Lake in Derry on November 
24th, and by the 30th there were only 39 as they continue migrating south.



An AMERICAN COOT was seen in Eel Pond in Rye on November 27th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL continues to be seen on the Seabrook side of Hampton Harbor, 
and was last reported on November 28th.



An ICELAND GULL, 4 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, and over 20 BLACK SCOTERS were 
reported from Lake Massabesic in Auburn on November 23rd.



An ICELAND GULL was seen on Hedgehog Pond in Salem on November 30th.



A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was seen along the coast in Rye on November 28th.



45 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen in Rye Harbor on November 28th.



A flock of 30 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen at the Pondicherry National 
Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on November 22nd.



A flock of 12 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS was seen in Bethlehem on November 
28th, and 3 were seen in Jefferson on the 28th.



A flock of 11 RED CROSSBILLS was reported from Orford on November 26th.



5 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at Rye Harbor State Park on November 26th.



2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were seen at Little Cherry Pond in the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on November 28th. A SPRUCE 
GROUSE was seen here on the 22nd.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER and a GRAY JAY were reported from Trudeau Road in 
Bethlehem on November 27th. A WHITE_WINGED CROSSBILL and 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES 
were reported from here on the 25th.



A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen in Sutton on November 25th, and 1 was seen in 
New London on the 26th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Dover on November 23rd.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was reported from Rye on November 23rd.



A BALTIMORE ORIOLE and a NORTHERN HARRIER were seen in Keene on November 
28th.



A BROWN THRASHER was seen in Barrington on November 30th.



A PINE WARBLER was seen in Hollis on November 25th.



A WILSON’S WARBLER and a BLUE-HEADED VIREO were seen at Odiorne Point State 
Park in Rye on the 27th. The WILSON’S WARBLER continues and was last 
reported on the 29th.



A CAROLINA WREN was seen in Lyme on November 27th.



During the past week an EASTERN PHOEBE was seen in Seabrook, a GRAY CATBIRD 
was seen in Hampton, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was seen in Rye, 2 WINTER WRENS 
were seen in Rye, several YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen in Rye, 4 FOX 
SPARROWS were seen in Hudson, and a TURKEY VULTURE was seen over Route 101.
