This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, March 2nd, 2015.



A juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was discovered near the public boat launch 
at Adams Point in Durham on November 10th. It has been seen numerous times 
since then, and was last reported on March 1st.



A BLACK-HEADED GULL was seen at the Hampton Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
February 27th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL and an ICELAND GULL were seen in Hampton Harbor on February 
28th. An ICELAND GULL was seen at Adam’s Point in Durham on February 28th, 
and 2 were seen on the Merrimack River in Manchester on March 1st.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen near Rye Harbor on February 27th



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Pillsbury State Park in Sunapee on February 
26th, and 1 was seen along Route 10 in Piermont on February 27th.



A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen on Great Bay from Adam’s Point in Durham 
on February 25th.



A female HARLEQUIN DUCK continues to be seen along the coast in Rye near 
Concord Point and was last reported on February 26th.



A THICK-BILLED MURRE was seen off of Concord Point in Rye on February 28th, 
and 2 RAZORBILLS were seen from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on March 
1st.



4 LESSER SCAUP and 10 GREAT CORMORANTS were reported from the Merrimack 
River in Manchester on March 1st.



A pair of NORTHERN PINTAILS, a male GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and a female LESSER 
SCAUP were seen at the Exeter Reservoir on March 2nd.



4 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 4 SNOW BUNTINGS, and 75 HORNED LARKS were reported from 
the Agway parking lot in Walpole on March 2nd, and 7 LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 25 
SNOW BUNTINGS, and 200 HORNED LARKS were reported from the same location on 
February 25th.



A flock of 6 COMMON REDPOLLS was reported from Chatham on March 2nd.



4 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Unity on March 2nd.



BOHEMIAN WAXWING sightings during the past week included: a flock of 75 near 
the library in Strafford on February 25th and again on March 1st, a flock of 
over 80 behind Stan’s Auto Service Center in Conway on the 26th, a flock of 
12 in Hart’s Location on the 27th, a flock of over 150 near the traffic 
circle in New London on the 27th and a flock of 209 in the same area on 
March 1st, a flock of 40 along Route 106 near Sam’s Club in Concord on 
February 28th, a flock of 50 along Winona Road in New Hampton on March 1st, 
and a flock of 45 in Hanover on March 2nd. These flocks were seen mainly 
foraging on ornamental fruit tress, or resting nearby.



A flock of 8 FISH CROWS was seen in Salem on February 26th.



A GRAY JAY and a BOREAL CHICKADEE were seen in Crawford Notch in the White 
Mountains in February 28th.



A GREAT HORNED OWL was heard hooting in Orford on March 2nd.



A BARRED OWL was seen in Walpole on March 2nd, 1 was seen in Sunapee on 
March 2nd, and 1 was seen in Hanover on February 26th.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was seen in Rye on March 1st.



A TURKEY VULTURE was seen in Dover on March 2nd and 3 were reported from the 
Manchester area on February 28th.



An EASTERN TOWHEE was reported from Rye on February 26th.



A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen in Nashua on February 25th.



A BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD was seen in Nashua on March 1st.
