In early afternoon today Ed Hack and I birded in the northeastern part
of Norwich. Along Campbell Flats Road highlights were a perched adult
Red-tailed Hawk and five Common Ravens in flight. Along Kendall
Station Road was a Red-bellied Woodpecker, the first of this species
either of us had seen in Norwich during 2010. Also along Kendall
Station Road were at least 37 Mallards, 2 Hairy Woodpeckers, at least
15 American Crows, at least 10 Cedar Waxwings, a few American Tree
Sparrows, and 3 House Finches.

Elsewhere, among 13 species seen today here in the backyard in Norwich
village, were 2 American Tree Sparrows, 3 White-throated Sparrows, at
least 10 Northern Cardinals, and an American Goldfinch.
