Up here in the Etna swamp, we had a pair of Canada Geese visit our pond/grass, they never hit the water...also had a pair of woodies.

Subject: [UVB] Norwich and Conn. River birding

Wilder Dam:

8 Double-crested Cormorants

10 crows

2 song sparrows

Norwich again-Ledyard Bridge:

song sparrow

(note: we met up with Doug and Spencer Hardy. Spencer spotted most of the

best birds on the remainder of our trip, including the Osprey).

Farrell Farm, on the Ct. river:

(2 visits)

2 Ring-necked Ducks

25+/- Canada Geese

1Northern Harrier- immature. Gorgeous! (Spencer)

Song Sparrows

1Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (Spencer)

Chickadee

1Kestrel (Spencer)

1 Yellow-rumped Warbler-FOY-(Spencer/Doug) stunning plumage!

1 Turkey Vulture

Pompy boat Landing:

1 pair Wood duck

2 Turkey Vultures

2 Mallards

2 Canada Geese

A Happy Ending....

Yesterday a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (m) crashed into our window- hawk

attack, I think. He looked bad. Put him in a warm box, took him to VINS. By

the time I got there he was scrabbling in the box. They tested him ,

declared him well and I brought him back home and released him. Today he is

expressing his gratitude by continually rapping on our metal roof! I don't

care-I'm really happy he survived. Hard-headed fellow I'd say. :)

Incidentals:

Chipmunk at Ledyard FOY

Beaver in Wilder
