Spent last evening fishing on the Connecticut River in Lyme with a fishing buddy. For 1/2 an hour before dusk, groups of Nighthawks were flying due north over the river. An occasional bird would veer off course and hawk insects, but for the most part, the birds seemed focused on a straight path. The numbers reminded me of crows heading for their evening roost, but there were no calls, no noise. I did not have a chance to take an accurate count due to my casting commitment, but 200+ would be a very conservative number.

P.S. I know you all will not believe I had a 28"-30" Pike up to the side of the boat, but those experiences make for the best fishing stories.
