The red-throated loon was in sole possession of the outflow area when I was at Wilder Dam (Vermont side) between 1:30 and 1:50 PM today (3.13). Watched it range throughout the area, beginning very close to the dam and then moving away --SW to SE and back SW -- in a series of successive, frequent dives. By the time I left it was quite far downriver, moving out of sight. No mergansers visible; one juvenile eagle drifted upriver overhead and was soaring back downriver as I left.
