This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Friday, March 2nd, 2007.



An immature KING EIDER was seen at Bicentennial Park in Hampton on February 
24th.



A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen along the coast in Rye, near the stone "Angel" 
sculpture located on Route 1A, on February 24th.



A light-morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen near Exit 5 on Route 101 in Raymond 
on February 27th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Lebanon on February 26th, and one was reported 
from Colebrook 2 miles east of Route 3, on Route 26, on the 24th.



6 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen at the Pease Golf Course on February 24th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR, 5 AMERICAN PIPITS, 49 HORNED LARKS, and 1 SNOW BUNTING 
were seen foraging along River Road in Walpole on February 24th.



4 SNOW BUNTINGS and 50 HORNED LARKS were seen near the north end of Route 63 
in Westmoreland on February 24th.



A single SNOW BUNTING was reported from Contoocook on February 24th.



7 HORNED LARKS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park on February 24th.



A COMMON REDPOLL was reported from Mount Cardigan on February 23rd.



Good numbers of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continued to be reported from the 
White Mountains area and Great North Woods during the past week.



2 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Birch Hill Road in Warner on March 
1st.



6 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen at Pulpit Rocks in Rye on March 1st.



A RUDDY DUCK was seen in Rye Harbor on February 24th.



A GADWALL was seen on Silver Lake in Tilton on February 25th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen at Little Cherry Pond in Jefferson on 
February 28th. A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen near the summit of Mount 
Carrigain, and a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was heard at the trailhead after 
dark, both on February 25th.



2 GRAY JAYS, 8 BOREAL CHICKADEES, and a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER were 
reported from Crawford Notch from the Crawford Path hiking trail to Mount 
Pierce on February 26th and 27th.



10 TURKEY VULTURES were seen in Newmarket on February 24th. Sightings of 
single TURKEY VULTURES were reported from Windham and Nashua on February 
28th.



A FISH CROW was reported from Kingston on February 26th.



A BROWN THRASHER was reported from Belmont on February 25th.



A GRAY CATBIRD was seen in Chester on February 23rd.



A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen on West Portsmouth Street in Concord on 
February 24th.



A NORTHERN FLICKER was reported from Adam's Point in Durham on February 
26th.



10 BALD EAGLES were reported from a roost site in Manchester on February 
24th. There have been a number of additional BALD EAGLE sightings from 
open-water areas located throughout the state during the past week.



2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS were reported from near the Town Hall in East 
Kingston on February 28th.



Scattered sightings of RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS, CAROLINA WRENS, and EASTERN 
BLUEBIRDS continued to be reported during the past week.
