My husband Mike was skating on Lake Morey today and took a picture of a juvenile Common Loon in open water he described as being in the middle of the lake. I understand loons need quite a bit of open water to take off. I do not skate but wonder whether a skater/birder could visit the loon and try to determine if the loon is in trouble. Thanks.
