I monitored the Lebanon old middle school chimney again this evening. I was counting alone which was a challenge but it seemed fewer than last night. I would say about 150. Interesting to note that the first bird was about 20 mins prior to the major flock just like last night. What was different was the lack of circling. They circled several times in smaller groups but never did the big circle. Next thing I knew they were descending down the chimney. There were some stragglers, up to 20, after the bulk of them descended. Then there was one lone swift that hung out 5-10 min beyond the rest of the straggler group.
This observation was under cloudy skies which I wondered if it would call for an earlier start but it was pretty much similar in times to last night. 8pm first loner, 8:20 bulk, 8:25 stragglers, 8:30 last Lone Ranger.
