Greetings,
On Saturday, 13 February 2010, a group from the Ascutney Mountain 
Audubon Society headed to the Champlain Valley to look for 
Rough-legged Hawks and other winter visitors.  Alas, we found no 
Horned Larks, Snow Buntings, Lapland Longspurs, or Snowy Owls. 
However, if any one needs a Common Goldeneye for their life list, 
head for Charlotte Beach while the water is open!

Mallard     24
Bufflehead     100     From Charlotte Beach and Shelburne Beach.
Common Goldeneye     1500     Mostly from Charlotte Beach.  More at 
Shelburne  Beach.  Everyone agreed there were at least 1000 birds; 
one estimate was 3000.

Ruffed Grouse     1     Fresh tracks only.
