This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, April 1st, 2019.



2 SANDHILL CRANES were reported from Kingston on March 27th.



A SNOWY OWL was photographed in a field along Deer Valley Road in Bradford 
on March 31st.



7 BLACK VULTURES were seen in the Connecticut River valley in Westmoreland 
on March 31st, and 2 were reported from Londonderry on March 30th.



5 SNOW GEESE were seen on the Connecticut River in Walpole on March 27th.



2 BRANT were seen off of the coast in Rye on March 29th.



There was an unconfirmed report of a BARROW’S GOLDENEYE seen on the 
Connecticut River in North Walpole on March 27th.



A REDHEAD was seen in Dover on March 26th.



A pair of NORTHERN SHOVELERS was seen in Exeter, and 2 LESSER SCAUP were 
seen on the Connecticut River in Charlestown, all on March 30th.



A RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was seen on the Connecticut River in the Upper 
Valley on March 31st.



A GLOSSY IBIS and a RED-THROATED LOON were seen from Adam’s Point in Great 
Bay on March 30th.



6 NORTHERN FULMARS, 2 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, 12 COMMON MURRES, a 
THICK-BILLED MURRE, 8 RAZORBILLS, and 4 BLACK GUILLEMOTS were seen by 
birders on a fishing boat out of Hampton on March 29th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen in Salem on March 29th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Bodwell Farm in Kensington on March 29th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR and 3 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park 
on March 28th, and 2 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen in Etna on the 25th.



A flock of 15 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen in Sandwich on March 27th, and 3 
were seen in Hanover on the 29th.



A flock of 42 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Ellsworth on March 28th, a flock 
of 32 was seen in Jefferson on the 30th, and a single bird was seen in 
Exeter on April 1st.



A flock of 25 COMMON REDPOLLS was seen in Etna on March 29th, a flock of 30 
was seen in Dunbarton on the 30th, and a flock of 40 was seen in Charlestown 
on the 30th. A possible HOARY REDPOLL was seen in Hollis on March 27th.



A PINE WARBLER was seen in Newton on March 25th, 1 was reported from Hampton 
on the 30th, and 1 was seen in Campton on April 1st. A few YELLOW-RUMPED 
WARBLERS were reported during the past week.



A FIELD SPARROW was seen in Westmoreland on March 31st.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen in Plainfield on March 31st.



There were a number of inland sightings of DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS from 
scattered locations during the past week,



A COW was seen flying over farm fields in Penacook, which explains the 
scattered piles of manure found there.
