On a splendid May morning today, 30 participants joined along Middlebrook Road in West Fairlee, VT, in an enjoyable bird walk organized by the West Fairlee Conservation Commission. Forty five species were found. A special highlight was an Olive-sided Flycatcher, both seen and heard. Other birds of special interest included an Osprey passing by, a woodcock in its streamside haunts, 2 hummingbirds, Alder Flycatchers, close views of phoebes, Tree Swallows, and Barn Swallows, young ravens calling, a singing Winter Wren, Parula Warbler, both Black-throated Blue and Black-throated Green Warblers, Canada Warblers, a Swamp Sparrow, Baltimore Oriole, and Purple Finch. A Tennessee Warbler singing loudly from a flowering tree along the road to the south of the area of the walk was detected by several participants before the walk began.
A more complete account for the walk can be found in an eBird report prepared by Kathy Thompson, who also compiled the list in the field: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S37011018

Special thanks go to coleaders Kathy Thompson and Susan Tiholiz, to Peg Willey and other members of the West Fairlee Conservation Commission for arranging the walk, and to the Eaton family for access and guidance in the walk area.
