This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for November 29, covering the period
November 21 - 28, 2008.  

 

The birding highlights of the week were the two SNOWY OWL sightings, one at
Delta Park in Colchester on 11/21 and one in Whiting on 11/23.

 

NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen in North Derby, Waitsfield (2), Brattleboro
Retreat Meadows and West Haven this week.

 

Two RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were observed in Otter View Park, Middlebury on
11/26.

 

A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was spotted in Brandon on 11/27.

 

Large numbers of AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were reported from around the state.

 

A CHIPPING SPARROW was seen 11/22 and 11/23 in Marlboro.

 

Five PINE GROSBEAKS were seen in East Clarendon on 11/22.

 

WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS have been sighted in Woodstock (3 on 11/23 and 2 on
11/26) and in Williston (6 on 11/24)

 

PINE SISKIN sightings were numerous this week and included reports from
Middlebury, Vergennes, Poultney, Saxton's River, Brattleboro (125 on 11/27)
and Waitsfield.
