This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, August 1st, 
2016.



2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were seen soaring over Newmarket on July 30th.



A SANDHILL CRANE has been seen somewhat regularly in a partially mowed 
hayfield along Route 127 in West Hopkinton since July 19th and was last 
reported on August 1st. The bird has also been seen several times at the 
nearby Elm Brook Park.



A pair of SANDHILL CRANES has returned to Monroe and they were most recently 
reported on July 22nd. The birds are most often seen in farm fields along 
Plains Road. If you look for the birds, please look from the road and do not 
enter the fields.



A CASPIAN TERN was seen on Spofford Lake in Chesterfield on July 29th.



An immature LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen in the marsh located on the west side 
of Route 1A opposite Wallis Sands State Beach on July 31st.



4 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen in a marsh on Worthley Avenue in 
Seabrook on July 25th, and 1 was seen off of Island Path in Hampton on the 
31st.



2 GREAT EGRETS were seen in Elm Brook Park in West Hopkinton on July 26th, 
and 1 was seen at Field’s Grove in Nashua on August 1st.



A CANVASBACK was seen on the Connecticut River above the Wilder Dam on July 
28th. A GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL and a DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT were seen 
here on August 1st.



4 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, a GADWALL, a RUDDY DUCK, and an AMERICAN COOT were 
seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant during the past week.



A RED KNOT was seen in Hampton Harbor on July 29th, 30th, and 31st.



2 PIPING PLOVERS and a LEAST TERN were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 31st.



A flock of 23 LEAST SANDPIPERS was seen in Field’s Grove in Nashua on August 
1st.



2 AMERICAN PIPITS were reported from above treeline on the Franconia Ridge 
in the White Mountains on July 27th.



2 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS and a BOREAL CHICKADEE were reported from the Caps 
Ridge Trail off of Jefferson Notch Road in the White Mountains on July 31st.



A LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH was seen at Upper Kimball Pond in Chatham on July 
30th.



5 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen in Nashua on July 25th.



2 EASTERN SCREEECH-OWLS were heard in Portsmouth during the past week.



At least 12 FISH CROWS were reported from Durham on July 27th.



50 PURPLE MARTINS were seen along the coast at Cross Beach Road in Seabrook 
on July 26th.
