Along Bragg Hill Rd. this afternoon I found one of the biggest sparrow
flocks I have seen this fall. From the car I flushed wave after wave
of birds, with two groups that looked like they numbered more than 50
individuals each. Almost all juncos, but a few others still mixed in.
There easily could have been 300+ birds total.
On a side note, the approaching weather system could make for some
good birding tomorrow.
This radar map shows what I think is a large movement of
migrants--although it is updated frequently so might not show much in
an hour or two.
