This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 4th, 
2014.



A SNOWY OWL was seen along the coast at Rye Ledge in Rye on May 31st.



A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen in Newmarket on May 29th, 30th, and 31st.



An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was seen along the coast at Rye Harbor State Park 
in Rye on May 31st.



2 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen on Jenness Beach in Rye on May 30th.



A RAZORBILL and a ROSEATE TERN were both seen along the coast from Odiorne 
Point State Park in Rye on May 31st.



An ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was discovered off of Bennett Road in Durham on May 
24th, and was seen several times since then. It was last reported on June 
4th. It has been seen and heard singing less than 1-mile from Route 108 on 
the north side of the road, among scattered alders in a field and near a 
small pond.



A “heard only” WORM-EATING WARBLER was reported from the Deer Hill Wildlife 
Management Area in Brentwood on May 30th.



A LEAST BITTERN was calling from the marsh located near Surrey Lane in 
Durham on May 20th, and again on the 23rd, 26th, and 30th, and an AMERICAN 
BITTERN was reported from Wendell Marsh in Sunapee on June 1st.



2 SANDHILL CRANES have returned to their summering grounds in Monroe and can 
sometimes be seen in fields along the Connecticut River north of town and 
also in fields along Plains Road.



A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was reported from the Concord Airport on June 1st and 
June 4th.



2 SALTMARSH SPARROWS were seen in Hampton Marsh on May 29th, and 4 were seen 
in coastal Rye on May 31st.



A NELSON’S SPARROW was reported from coastal North Hampton on May 30th.



A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS was seen at the Trudeau Road wetlands in 
Bethlehem on June 1st, and a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was reported from 
Little Cherry Pond in the Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary in Jefferson on May 
30th.



At least 5 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES were reported from along the Rim Trail on 
Cannon Mountain on June 3rd.



An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen at Flagg Pond in Lyman on June 1st, and 
one was reported from Long Pond in Benton on June 4th.



4 FISH CROWS were reported from Durham on May 31st.



2 GLOSSY IBIS were seen along the coast in Rye on May 31st.



There were several reports of BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS from the coast 
during the past week.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen at the Pease International Tradeport on May 
30th.



At least 4 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were seen along the coast during the past week.



A SEMIPALMATED PLOVER was seen at World End Pond in Salem on June 3rd.



4 PURPLE MARTINS were seen on Scribner's Pond in East Wakefield on June 1st, 
and 8 were seen at Seabrook Marsh on June 2nd.



There were several reports of YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, 
and ORCHARD ORIOLES from scattered locations, mainly in the southern half of 
the state, during the past week



25 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen migrating north over Hancock on May 29th.



A BONAPARTE'S GULL was seen at Airport Marsh in Whitefield on May 30th.
