This morning (October 4) Ed Hack and I birded in Kilowatt Park, north
and south, and the nearby vicinity at Wilder, VT (within the town of
Hartford, VT). Among the 29 bird species found there this morning, Red-
winged Blackbird was by far the most numerous with roughly 300 in the
largest flock.

Waterbirds were represented by one Double-crested Cormorant, about 35
Canada Geese, at least 24 Wood Ducks, 39 Mallards, and a kingfisher.
Notable among the landbirds were 7 Yellow-shafted Flickers, 2 Pileated
Woodpeckers, 3 Eastern Phoebes, a Blue-headed Vireo, a Common Raven, a
House Wren, more than 20 American Robins, about 40 European Starlings,
3 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 3 Field Sparrows, a Lincoln's Sparrow, and a
Common Grackle. Gray Catbirds, Song Sparrows, and White-throated
Sparrows were plentiful.

George
