A few interesting sightings of birds in our area.

At the south end of Stevens Road in Lebanon, at the old turkey farm, 
four snipe were heard peenting, with two of them going into display 
flights.

On Camp Hill Road in Weathersfield, a bright orange Scarlet Tanager 
with black lores.  It looked just like the aberrant plumaged 
illustration in Sibley.

One of our Mourning Warblers is back and singing up a storm.

An Indigo Bunting was singing from a treetop in a cut-over filed that 
has grown up and is very brushy.  This is now one of our best birding 
spots.

A great Horned Owl called from the woods near our house.  Barred Owls beware!

American Redstarts are really getting into the territorial vocalizations.

The Veeries, Wood Thrushes, and Hermit Trushes seem especially 
abundant this year.

Least Flycatchers are everywhere.  We even found a nest.

Bobolinks have returned to our neighbor's field.

We will be checking our the prison fields tomorrow.  A harrier has 
been reported there by Mike Quinn.
