While in Hanover this afternoon I saw a Robin on Lebanon St. across from
C&A Pizza.  Probably an over winter bird.  It was nice to see it.
Daily at my feeders I have approx. 10 to 12 Common Redpolls and 4 or 5 American Tree Sparrows.
Occasionally American Goldfinch are with the Redpolls..
I have at least a dozen Blue Jays that have been here all winter and also
that many Mourning Doves. The other usuals are Red and White Breasted Nuthatch,
Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, and many Chickadees.
I did have a Hawk visit one day in Feb. A Hairy Woodpecker was on one of my suet feeders
in my large maple tree.  I looked up at him as I was coming down my walkway from the garage.
I spoke to him as he was vocalizing.  All of a sudden this big bird flew from higher up in the tree
and easily navigated thru the close trees in the woods behind my house.
What I could see of the chest seemed to be white and streaked.  The back was shades of brown.
Several Red Squirrels are back.  They must have been in hibernation during the brutal cold.
Oh well, a sign of Spring?
