This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, October 19th, 
2015.



A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen from Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on October 18th.



A male EURASIAN WIGEON was seen on the Greenland side of Great Bay on 
October 18th. Also present were a NORTHERN SHOVELER, a RUDDY DUCK, and an 
estimated 50 AMERICAN WIGEON.



A SEDGE WREN was seen along Bog Road in Penacook on October 17th, but has 
not been relocated.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at the Urban Forestry Center in 
Portsmouth, 1 was seen near Eel Pond in Rye, and 1 was seen at Odiorne Point 
State Park in Rye, all on October 18th.



A DICKCISSEL and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were seen near Eel Pond in Rye on October 
18th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen along the coast in Rye on October 17th, and a 
SNOW BUNTING was seen on the 15th.



A COMMON REDPOLL was seen at a birdfeeder on Sawmill Road in Hillsborough 
Lower Village on October 13th.



A CASPIAN TERN was seen along the coast on October 13th.



3 FORSTER’S TERNS, 2 LAUGHING GULLS, and 12 BRANT were seen from Seabrook 
Beach on October 16th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen along the coast in Rye on October 19th.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen in Rye on October 17th.



2 GADWALL were seen in Derry on October 15th.



2 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on October 
19th.



A HORNED GREBE was seen on October 11th, and 3 GADWALL were seen on the 
14th, all on Cherry Pond in the Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary in Jefferson.



A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen on Lake Winnipesauke in Meredith on October 
13th.



A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was seen in Hampton Harbor on the 16th and 17th.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen on October 13th, and 4 WILSON’S SNIPE were seen 
on the 15th, all along Trask Brook Road in Sunapee.



An AMERICAN BITTERN, and a PECTORAL SANDPIPER were seen at World End Pond in 
Salem on October 17th.



An AMERICAN COOT was seen at Eel Pond in Rye on October 19th.



2 SURF SCOTERS were seen on Post Pond in Lyme on October 16th.



16 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen from Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on 
October 18th, and 20 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen from Pack Monadnock in 
Peterborough on October 17th.



A flock of about 30 WOOD DUCKS was seen on Clay Brook at the Chaffee 
Wildlife Sanctuary.in Lyme on October 16th.



2 FISH CROWS were reported from Dover on October 15th.



A late-migrating BALTIMORE ORIOLE was seen in Hinsdale on October 13th.



Late migrant swallows included 2 TREE SWALLOWS at Carter Hill in Concord on 
October 15th, and a BARN SWALLOW in Rye on October 18th.



A late-migrating RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in Nashua on October 
13th.



Late migrating WARBLERS reported during the past week included NASHVILLE, 
BLACKPOLL, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, PALM, and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT.



There were several reports of AMERICAN PIPIT, HERMIT THRUSH, WHITE-CROWNED 
SPARROW, FOX SPARROW, LINCOLN’S SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD 
from scattered locations during the past week.



RAPTOR migration is under way with migrating raptors being counted daily at 
the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, and at the 
Carter Hill Observatory in Concord. Pack Monadnock has tallied more than 
18,700 raptors since September 1st, and Carter Hill has counted over 7,800 
raptors since September 1st. Be sure to stop by to help with the count!
