Some highlights among 27 bird species seen in Norwich today included
a) a Double-crested Cormorant, 6 Hooded Mergansers, and a Belted
Kingfisher at Foley Park, b) a Red-tailed Hawk and a male Red-winged
Blackbird at Pompy,
c) a Great Blue Heron along Campbell Flats Road,
and d) a Sharp-shinned Hawk, 3 male Red-winged Blackbirds, a Common
Grackle, and a Purple Finch here in the backyard in Norwich village.

In late morning along Campbell Flats Road, about 160 American Crows
were present. Of those more than 100 were flying southward in an
stretched out flock, while more than 50 others gathered in a recently
harvested field of corn.
