I had a great early morning census at a VCE Forest Bird Monitoring
Program (FBMP) site, Roy Mountain Wildlife Management Area in Barnet.
I've counted birds at this seldom-visited cedar-fir swamp site for 21
years, and it is a magical place. It's difficult to find and even more
tricky to navigate through, due to abundant deadfalls and wet hummocky
substrate, but worth a visit. Anyone wanting to go, feel free to
contact me off-line for directions. I recommend not venturing too far
off the road without a companion, as I've gotten somewhat lost in there
a couple of times....
