Highlights of a meander around Kilowatt this morning were a single
Lapland Longspur and Orange-crowned Warbler. The longspur was moving
from the boat access parking lot all the way over to the dirt-gravel
piles below and west of the access road down to Wilder Dam. It was
airborne much of the time, calling in flight and tracing huge circles
above the entire area. Both Spencer Hardy and I had separate, very
close looks at the bird on the ground, 30 minutes apart.

The warbler was seen well in thickets at the bottom of the road down to
the boat access, by the playing field. Unfortunately, Spencer, George
Clark and Ed Hack could not relocate it afterwards, but it's likely
still in the area.

On the water were a male White-winged Scoter and 4 Greater Scaup, likely
the same birds that were present yesterday and earlier.
