A brief early afternoon visit to Kilowatt Park South in the Wilder
section of Hartford, VT, enabled viewing of a female Common Goldeneye
and two female Hooded Mergansers, all diving in the cool Connecticut
River. Much of the water area in sight above the Wilder Dam was ice
covered, but the ducks were in a central channel still open. Also at
Kilowatt South, a flock of about 27 Canada Geese flew over in
southward direction, and a Northern Mockingbird momentarily called
while perched high in a tree adjacent to the road passing over the
railway.
