This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for September 8, covering the period
September 1-7, 2008.  

 

The highlights of the week include a probable sighting of a RUDDY DUCK at
Mud Creek WMA in Alburg on 9/1, a POMARINE JAEGER in Grand Isle on 8/6, 2
PARASITIC JAEGERS on Grand Isle on 8/6 and 2 juveniles at Charlotte Town
Beach on 9/7, a juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER in Grand Isle on 8/6 and one at
Charlotte Town Beach on 9/7, a juvenile SABINE'S GULL at Charlotte Town
Beach on 9/6, a juvenile BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE in Grand Isle on 9/6, a
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington on 9/7 and a
CONNECTICUT WARBLER in Moretown on 9/1.

 

A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen in Grand Isle on 9/6.

 

Two BLACK TERNS were spotted at the northern end of Lake Champlain on 9/1
and 14 were seen at Charlotte Town Beach on 9/6.

 

Eight SANDERLINGS were observed at Charlotte Town Beach on 9/7.

 

COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were sighted in Ludlow (2 on 9/3) and Essex (2 on 9/1).

 

A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen in Norwich and in South Duxbury on 9/3.
