Bird walk in Norwich -- Sunday May 9, 2010

Meet at 7:30 AM at the junction of Hogback and Patterson Roads in
Norwich (see road instructions below) for the fifth in a series of
Norwich 2010 Birding Quest walks. This walk, led by Norwich resident
George Clark, is to be at a leisurely pace for a total of about two
miles along an unpaved road while looking for migrants and recently
arrived birds in fields, woodlands, and ponds. The hills along this
route are not steep. Bring binoculars if available. Children are
welcome with an accompanying adult. This walk is free and open to both
Norwich residents and others. The trip will be held regardless of
weather conditions, but be aware that rain or wind can reduce the
chances of seeing many birds. We plan to return to the starting point
by 10 AM.

The goal of the Norwich 2010 Birding Quest <http://www.vtecostudies.org/quest/
 > is to find and identify as many species of birds as possible from
Norwich during calendar year 2010. Enjoy the challenge of this walk to
find species not already encountered on previous walks of this series.

Road Instructions: Please carpool if possible. From Exit 13 of I-91
follow Route 5 North along the Connecticut River and turn left onto
Route 132. Take the first right off Route 132 onto Hogback Road.
Continue on Hogback Road to the junction with Patterson Road which is
the first road on the left; this is the starting point for the walk.
