On the Hanover Golf course yesterday: no merlins but a semipalmated plover.

What a surprise!  It was making its way slowly from the eigth fairway to the
ninth where they slope to the pond.  I drove my golf cart to within five feet of
it expecting it to fly.  It never did.  It just scurried a few more feet away,
and was still there when I played on.
