This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, November 21st,
2016.
A SNOWY OWL was seen in Stratham on November 18th and 19th.
A male EURASIAN WIGEON was seen in the southeast part of Great Bay in
Greenland on November 19th.
3 HARLEQUIN DUCKS were seen at Seal Rocks in Rye on November 19th.
A RUDDY DUCK was seen on Eel Pond in Rye on November 16th.
A DICKCISSEL was seen at Arboretum Drive in Newington on November 19th.
A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen at Woodmont Orchard in Hollis on November
19th.
An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen foraging at a location accessed from the
trails that start at the Park & Ride located off of Route 33 in Portsmouth
on November 20th. Also present were a PINE WARBLER, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET,
and a GRAY CATBIRD.
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen in Penacook on November 19th, and 1 was
reported from Bedford on the 15th.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE continues to be seen at the Community Gardens on Birch
Street in Concord and was last reported on November 19th. A NORTHERN SHRIKE
was seen at Woodmont Orchard in Hollis, and 1 was seen at Airport Marsh in
Whitefield, both on November 19th.
5 PINE GROSBEAKS and 16 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Milan on November
15th, and a PINE GROSBEAK was seen near the summit of Pack Monadnock in
Peterborough on the 19th.
3 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen near the summit of Pack Monadnock in
Peterborough on November 19th, and 2 were reported from Carter Hill in
Concord on November 15th.
4 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from Pittsfield on November 17th.
4 GRAY JAYS were seen along Greenough Road in Errol on November 15th.
A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen on the trail to Little Cherry Pond in
Jefferson on November 19th.
RAPTOR migration is dwindling and the official staffed observation has come
to a close. Over 13,465 migrating raptors were counted at the Pack Monadnock
Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, including 5 GOLDEN EAGLES, and
a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, since September 1st, and over 6,760 migrating raptors
were counted at the Carter Hill Observatory in Concord, including a
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, and 3 GOLDEN EAGLES, since September 1st.
