A pair of cormorants were basking in the sun on a log protruding from the
Connecticut just aboe Wilder Dam this morning. Their crests were up, a sight I
had never seen before.

The log looks permanent and may only be exposed because the river is so low aboe
the dam. The birds were best viewed from next to the grey house on the point
just before the boat launch.

And a winter wren was singing on the path up to the Boston Lot reservoir.

And I'm not sure it was reported tht las Thursday, 4/19, a group of us watched a
merlin preening herself in a tree on a lawn in front of one of the Rope Ferry
Road houses in Hanover.
