This morning Chris Rimmer found a Surf Scoter at Kilowatt Park South
in the Wilder section of Hartford, VT. Subsequently, between 10 and 11
AM, with the aid of a scope, I observed the bird, an immature female,
downstream from the boom and hence rather near the upstream aide of
the Wilder Dam. Among field marks noted were the vertically elongated
white patch between the eye and bill and the bright whitish belly
exposed when the bird hauled out near a couple of Mallards on a dead
tree lying horizontally in the water.

Norwich, VT
