A quick birding trip up the Connecticut River this afternoon did not produce
many surprises. Between the Ledyard bridge and Kendal Station Rd, there were
a few Mallards, Common Mergansers, and Canada Geese on the river. Also my
first Brown-headed Cowbird on Kendal Station Road.

However, one section of Campbell Flats Road did have some nice birds. The
highlights being the previously reported Rusty Blackbird and 2 Bald Eagles.
I was able to get a few digiscope pictures of the blackbird, which will be
posted on the VTebird flicker page shortly. My first impression was an adult
female.
As for the eagles, there was one full adult and a 4th year bird. We meet a
couple walking on the road who said that they had been there for several
days now.

It still feels like the middle of winter at this end of Bragg Hill. Our
first Song Sparrow joined the dozen plus redpolls at the feeder today.
