In view of a high probability of rain and somewhat marginal weather conditions otherwise on Tuesday evening April 25, the woodcock walk scheduled for Hanover on that day has been canceled.

The present advanced forecast for Thursday evening April 27 is favorable, and we anticipate that a walk will be conducted then.

Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and the Kendal Bird Club have arranged an evening field trip to view the spectacular spiraling skyward display of American Woodcock on Thursday April 27, 2017. This field trip is free and open to the public. Participants should meet at 7:15 PM at the Kendal of Hanover reception area at 80 Lyme Road (Route 10) in Hanover, NH, to carpool to the display area. This field trip, lasting about 2 hours, is to be led by George Clark and Joanne Norton. Bring binoculars and dress for warmth in the early evening chill. Wear foot gear for possible soggy/wet conditions and be prepared to walk short distances over uneven but fairly level terrain. A flashlight or headlamp will likely be helpful. This event may be canceled if there should unfortunately be 1) hazardous driving conditions, 2) steady rain, 3) temperature below 42 degrees, and 4) sustained winds over 10 mph.
