This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, December 13th, 
2007.



A LARK SPARROW was seen feeding on the ground near Pulpit Rocks in Rye on 
December 8th and 9th.



An EARED GREBE was found at Seal Rocks in Rye on November 17th, and was last 
reported on December 12th. This is the same location at which an EARED GREBE 
spent most of last winter. A female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen in the same 
area on December 9th.



A female KING EIDER was seen from North Side Park in Hampton, off Ancient 
Highway on December 9th.



2 HARLEQUIN DUCKS continue to be seen intermittently in Rye Harbor and it's 
main tidal creek, and they were last reported on December 11th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen off of Hampton Beach from the south side 
of Great Boar's Head in Hampton on December 9th.



A RAZORBILL was seen from Little Boar's Head in North Hampton, and 5 BLACK 
GUILLEMOTS were seen from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, all on December 
9th.



2 SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen in the marshes adjacent to Island Path in 
Hampton, and a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was heard at Odiorne Point State Park 
in Rye, all on December 9th. An EASTERN SCREECH OWL was seen in Exeter on 
the 12th. A possible SHORT-EARED OWL was reported from the Mall of NH on 
South Willow Street in Manchester on December 6th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen along Route 95 south of the Hampton toll plaza 
on December 12th, one was seen at Pease International Tradeport on the 9th, 
one was seen over Hampton Marsh on the 8th, and one was seen over the 
marshes near Rye Harbor on the 6th.



An adult BLACK-HEADED GULL was seen at the Newmarket Town Landing on the 
Lamprey River on December 11th, and a NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen here on the 
9th.



An immature GLAUCOUS GULL and 2 immature ICELAND GULLS were seen in Rye 
Harbor, and an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED was seen on Jenness Beach in Rye, 
all on December 9th. An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen in downtown 
Dover on the 6th.



A possible HOARY REDPOLL was seen in Strafford on December 9th.



COMMON REDPOLL sightings during the past week included 9 in Barnstead on the 
12th, 15 in Alexandria on the 10th, 10 in Newmarket on the 10th, 40 in Surry 
on the 9th, 25 in Center Harbor on the 9th, 72 at the Keene Airport in 
Swanzey on the 8th, 40 in Milton on the 7th, and 40 in Lebanon on the 6th.



BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS sightings during the past week included 300 at the 
Plymouth State University field house on December 10th, 100 at the Colby 
Sawyer College campus in New London on the 11th, 63 on Route 140 in Alton 
near Coffinbrook Road on the 10th, 100 in Milton on the 9th, and 100 at the 
Longacre Garden Supply along Route 4 in Lebanon on the 6th.



CEDAR WAXWING sightings during the past week included over 200 on the 
University of New Hampshire campus in Durham on December 13th, 90 on the New 
Hampshire Technical Institute campus in Concord on the 11th, 25 on Dort Road 
in Surry on the 11th, and 70 on the Plymouth State University college campus 
on the 10th.



NORTHERN SHRIKE sightings continue with 7 during the past week, including 1 
at Depot Road in Hampton on December 12th, 1 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Keene 
on the 11th, 1 behind Lowe's in Epping on the 10th, I on Dort Road in Surry 
on the 9th, 1 in Rochester on the 9th, and 1 in Keene near the Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on the 8th.



PINE GROSBEAKS were reported from several locations during the past week, 
including a flock of 15 at the Monadnock Shopping Center in Keene on 
December 12th, a flock of 50 in Hancock on the 12th, 6 in Jefferson the 
12th, over 20 on the Plymouth State University Campus on the 10th, 57 near 
Dort Road in Surry on the 9th, 50 in Rochester on the 9th, 8 on Quincy Road 
in Plymouth on the 8th, a flock of 16 on Blake's Hill Road in Northwood on 
the 7th, and 9 in Milton on the 7th.



EVENING GROSBEAK sightings during the past week included a flock of 30 in 
Jefferson on December 12th, over 30 in Hanover Center on the 12th, and 17 in 
Enfield Center on the 12th.



SNOW BUNTING sightings during the past week included 35 on East Conway Road 
in Conway on December 11th, 12 at Joslin Road Quarry in Surry on the 9th, 30 
behind the Target store in Keene on the 10th, and 62 along the coast, also 
on the 9th.



3 SNOW GEESE were seen flying in Hampton on December 6th.



60 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were reported from along the coast on December 9th.



An AMERICAN PIPIT was seen at Ragged Neck in Rye on the 12th, and one was 
seen on the north side of Great Boar's Head in Hampton on the 9th.



3 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen on Thompson Farm Road in Plymouth on December 
8th, and one was seen in Rochester on the 9th.



A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen on Village Road in Surry on December 
11th, one was seen on Fisk Hill Road in Concord on the 9th, and one was seen 
on Webster Avenue in Exeter on the 7th.



A FOX SPARROW was reported from Pulpit Rocks in Rye on December 7th, and 
single birds were reported from Hampton Falls and Bedford on the 7th.



3 GRAY JAYS were reported from Dixville Notch on December 9th
