This morning (10/2/2013) in the weedy field across the bridge from the Foxstand fishing access area off Rt.14 in Royalton there were a lot of sparrows, including one Lark Sparrow juvenile. The bird was teed up for a couple of minutes and I was able to get adequate, but not spectacular looks before it flew out of sight. I could not relocate it. This is a very birdy area, but a little difficult to navigate as the weeds are often over 6’ tall. This field was hit hard by Irene and they have not returned it to crops yet. Most of the birds, including the LASP, were directly across from the bridge. If anyone is going to look, I recommend parking at the fishing access and walking across the bridge. The landowner, a dairy farmer, welcomes birders, but in return says to buy milk and cheese.

I'd sure love it if other observers got to see this bird, and perhaps got photographs. There is bound to be a lot of other stuff in this field as well. Very challenging viewing conditions.

Kyle
