South Peacham, Vermont
21 May 2010

I just returned from a walk and heard the familiar "chrrrr" call of a
Red-bellied Woodpecker in front of my South Peacham home. I say familiar
because I moved here from Houston Tx in February and I had a Red-bellied
family living in my back yard there.

After hearing it call, I got a good look and am certain on the ID - zebra
back, bright red back of head.

I have never seen one so far north and never in Peacham/Northern Vermont.
