At about 7:30 this evening I saw hundreds of nighthawks over downtown Hanover. Conservatively, I’d say the most I saw at once was 350. Since they were all moving around so much, passing in and out of view, there could have been twice that number. They appeared to be heading generally northeastward, but it was tough to tell for sure. By 8:00, only a few stragglers were left flying above the Green.
