This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, May 4th, 2015.



A female NORTHERN WHEATEAR was seen and photographed at the Lane River 
Bridge in South Sutton on May 3rd, but was not reported on the 4th.



A first-year male KING EIDER was seen at Great Boar’s Head in Hampton on 
April 27th.



A REDHEAD was seen on Great Bay from the Discovery Center on April 29th.



A HYBRID HERON that appears to be a cross between a SNOWY EGRET and a 
TRICOLORED HERON was seen in the Little River Salt Marsh in North Hampton on 
April 24th. It has continued to be reported from several coastal locations 
during the past week and was last reported on May 3rd.



A GLAUCOUS GULL and an ICELAND GULL were both seen at Rockingham Park in 
Salem on May 1st.



A LAUGHING GULL was seen at Eel Pond and 3 were seen along the coast, in 
Rye, on May 3rd.



A flock of 10 BRANT was seen off shore in Rye on May 3rd.



4 RED-NECKED GREBES and a small flock of unidentified SCOTERS were seen on 
Lake Sunapee, and a RED-NECKED GREBE was seen flying near Squam Lake, all on 
May 1st.



A LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen at World End Pond in Salem on May 2nd.



A male GADWALL was seen in Hampton on May 2nd.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported from Hancock on May 4th.



A LESSER YELLOWLEGS was seen in fields along North River Road in Milford on 
April 29th.



4 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen at the Pease International Tradeport from the 
Newington side on April 29th.



A PIPING PLOVER was seen at Hampton Beach State Park on April 29th.



At least 280 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were tallied along the coast in Rye on May 
2nd.



A RED CROSSBILL was reported from Oak Hill in Hanover on May 2nd, and 1 was 
heard at Mink Brook Preserve in Hanover on May 3rd.



A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was reported from the setbacks along the Connecticut 
River in Hinsdale on May 4th, and 1 was seen in Penacook on the 3rd.



A pair of EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen at a feeder in New London on May 3rd.



A flock of 6 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS was seen in Goffstown on April 29th.



A WHIP-POOR-WILL was heard in Concord on April 30th, and 1 was heard in West 
Lebanon on May 3rd.



A male ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen at Powderhouse Pond in Exeter on May 4th.



Up to 10 PURPLE MARTINS were seen at Cross Beach Road in Seabrook on May 
4th.



2 FISH CROWS were reported from Charlestown on May 3rd, and a few were 
reported from southeastern towns during the past week.



A pair of MERLINS is again nesting at the Hanover Country Club, handicap 
unknown.



Returning migrants reported during the past week included: RUBY-THROATED 
HUMMINGBIRD, SCARLET TANAGER, BANK SWALLOW, CLIFF SWALLOW, ROSE-BREASTED 
GROSBEAK, BALTIMORE ORIOLE, EASTERN KINGBIRD, LEAST FLYCATCHER, 
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO, WARBLING VIREO, VEERY, WOOD THRUSH, GRAY CATBIRD, 
AMERICAN REDSTART, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, OVENBIRD, NASHVILLE WARBLER, 
NORTHERN PARULA, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, PRAIRIE 
WARBLER, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, LINCOLN’S SPARROW, and VESPER SPARROW.
