I'm at Pompy Flats right now, watching at least 51 dowitchers (I think all are Short-billed) roosting on the small islands of vegetation directly across from Old Bridge Road. The water has come back up and flats are covered. Its hard to miss these birds, but also hard to see good field marks, as they're shoulder to shoulder with bills tucked into their back feathers.

There are also 10 Least Sandpipers foraging in the back near I-91.

Chris
